HISTORY

Starting off as a fort for Spanish and later American soldiers, Bellefontaine gradually evolved into a suburb of St. Louis thanks to various land grants. The Bellefontaine Methodist Church, a significant historic landmark in the region, dates back to 1854 when it was established by James R. Bissell, the son of one of the initial American commanding generals overseeing the territory.

ACCESSIBILITY

Bellefontaine has easy access to interstate 270 and route 367. It is about 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis and the Arch.
